The Role of Artificial Intelligence Anxiety in Shaping Teamwork Attitudes Among Healthcare Professionals

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) anxiety levels and teamwork attitudes of healthcare professionals and to determine whether these variables differ according to socio-demographic characteristics.
Methods: The research was conducted using a cross-sectional design on healthcare professionals working in a hospital in Çankırı province of Turkey. The study population consisted of 128 healthcare workers, and a total of 107 healthcare professionals selected through random sampling were included in the study. Data were collected using a survey method; the Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale and the Attitudes Toward Teamwork Scale were employed as data collection instruments. The data were analyzed using the SPSS software. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, independent samples t-test, and Anova were employed in the data analysis.
Results: The analyses revealed that AI anxiety varies according to different demographic variables. Accordingly, the dimensions of “Change in Work Life” and “Trust in Artificial Intelligence” were found to be higher in female participants compared to male participants, while the “Sociotechnical Adaptation” dimension was higher among married participants compared to single participants (p < 0.05). Regarding educational level, significant differences were observed in the “Learning” and “Mutual Support” dimensions (p < 0.05). In addition, a weak negative correlation was found between teamwork attitudes and AI anxiety (r = -0.298, p < 0.01).
Conclusions: Based on the findings, it shows that healthcare professionals who are team-oriented and collaborative have lower AI anxiety. By examining AI anxiety not only at the individual level but also in relation to teamwork attitudes, the study makes a contribution to the literature. The results emphasize that team-oriented attitudes may reduce AI-related anxiety and highlight the critical role of human-centered strategies in technological integration.
